![]() These last two spots could of been used to reprint a signet, or two, or put one of the many cards desperate for a reprint after being spiked in price by this format. This “feature” often left the deck pulled in multiple directions, the Bant decks from both Commander 20 are good examples of this, but with the theme this year being as simple as Keywords, I don’t see why we couldn’t ask for more morph-friendly Sultai legends.Īlso these decks are on 40 lands, which is quite a lot by commander standards, 36-38 dependent on curve with a healthy amount of cheap manarocks is the optimal. When I used to play these precons out the box with friends every year when I started playing the format, I enjoyed being able to at least try to play with another legend also in the deck. Unlike normal sets, which highlight a single Plane and time, the Commander decks can pull from anywhere and any-when in the multiverse. This in the case of Faceless Menace locks you into playing Kadena as your commander if you want to stick to the morph theme and can often leave you with creatures in hand that don’t draw you a card with Kadena in play. Personalizing Commander 2019: Primal Genesis Feature As a fan of Magic s story and flavor, there are few products I look forward to more than the yearly Commander decks. The biggest issues I’d say are the new exclusive commander cards are pretty uninspired and don’t fit the theme of the decks very well. ![]() Kadena is a great card for putting the strategy on the map. Faceless Menace is a great starter set for anyone looking to play morphs in this format, including a great selection of the best morphs in Magic’s history. This year’s selection I’d say overall are much better than last year’s.
